🐾 Hunt & Retrieve Trial – Level 1 📅 Sunday 23rd November 2025 | 🕥 1pm–3pm | 📍 Carmarthen Showground 💷 £30 per dog, or just £25 if you’re booked onto the workshop! 🎯 Beginner-Friendly | Confidence-Boosting | Fun but Formal Our Hunt & Retrieve Trials are designed to celebrate your dog’s natural abilities, strengthen your teamwork, and provide a structured but supportive first step into competition. Whether you’re just starting out or building on class progress, Level 1 is a fantastic introduction to working under light pressure, and yes, your dog can work with their favourite toy! 🔍 What to Expect at Level 1 Each team completes two separate search areas, with one hidden article in each. Search areas may vary in surface and layout, giving your dog the chance to shine in real-life conditions. Your dog will: • Drive away from you to search and locate the article • Retrieve the item and bring it back • Work off-lead (or on a long line if needed) • Show focus, enthusiasm, and teamwork 📋 Judging Criteria Each search is scored out of 25 points, with an optional 5 bonus points for delivery to hand: ✔️ Find – 5 points ✔️ Retrieve Action – 10 points ✔️ Attempted Retrieve – 5 points ✔️ Enthusiasm – 5 points ✔️ Dog–Handler Relationship – 5 points ➕ Bonus: Delivery to Hand – 5 points Dogs can work with their favourite toy, soft article, or scent item. This challenge will build confidence and drive. 🐶 Is Your Dog Ready? ✅ Has a basic retrieve (toy or scent article) ✅ Enjoys sniffing, carrying, or searching ✅ Can work in new environments with handler support ✅ You’re ready to have fun and give it a go! All breeds and experience levels welcome. This is a low-pressure, positive first trial experience where learning and teamwork are celebrated. 🎯 Spaces are limited to ensure plenty of focused time, judge feedback, and a great experience for all dogs.
