UK Dog Sports: Beginners Course UK Dog Sports (UKDS) is an exciting discipline that combines Obedience, Nosework, and Agility, offering a fun and rewarding experience for both dogs and handlers. Our six-week course is designed to teach the foundations of this dynamic and varied sport, helping you and your dog build skills, confidence, and teamwork. What Will You Learn? The UKDS Beginners Course covers a variety of exercises, including: 🐾 Heelwork – Improve focus and precision while walking together 🐾 Recall & Retrieve – Strengthen your dog’s ability to come back and fetch items 🐾 Sendaway – Teach your dog to run to a designated target area 🐾 Stays – Build duration and impulse control 🐾 Speak – Teach your dog to bark on command 🐾 Jump, Tunnel & A-frame – Introduce agility elements for confidence and conditioning 🐾 Search Squares – Develop your dog’s scenting ability and search skills This course provides a fun and varied training experience, helping to improve obedience, introduce scentwork and agility, and strengthen your bond with your dog. What You Will Need: Flat Collar Lead: Non-retractable, no slip leads Selection of Favourite Treats: Bring four times as many as you think your dog will need; moist treats like sausages work best! Favourite Toy Clicker: Optional, but useful for training Dog Bowl & Water Poo Bags Mat/Bed Note: Perfect Fit Harnesses, Training Leads, Toys, and Treats are available for purchase at the training venue. Class Guidelines: Bring Your Own Water: Please bring your own water and bowl. Attendance: Only dogs registered in the class may attend. Leash Requirements: Keep your dog on lead at all times within the grounds. Designated Walking Area: Please walk your dogs on lead only in the designated area. Clean Up: Ensure you clean up after your dog and take poo bags home with you or use the bins provided. Behavioural Concerns: If your dog tends to bark or lunge at other dogs or people, please contact us to discuss 1-2-1 training to help prepare them for the class environment.
